Routine, Technique & Video Demonstration

The recommended pace is one topic, say "Animals" i.e. 20 cards (10 pictures and 10 words), to be flashed at least 2 times a day. The duration for each topic is 3-5 days depending on your child's interest. As time progresses, it is necessary to repeat previously taught topics at least twice a week as this acts as a great revision for your child. For optimal results, it is suggested that you familiarised yourself with the sequence of words by downloading the contents from our Parents Guide here

Tip

Our curriculum, as per most effective learning programmes, recommends that you start your child on a lesson (flashcards or flashcard videos) twice a day. That is also why a lot of our customers purchased both our Speak & Read DVD/Streaming videos together with the flash cards as this allows your child to continue on with the lessons, even when you are working or are unavailable. Any caregiver, who may not be able to pronounce the words or use flashcards effectively can continue to show them the lessons through the Speak & Read DVD/streaming videos and you can reinforce the concept by flashing the cards on weekends/at night. The cards can also be used as an assessment tool such as getting the child to match each word to the right picture card.

Also note that our Wink to Learn flash card series cover up to Level 4 in our Wink to Learn Curriculum. With the Speak & Read DVD/Digital Videos Series, your child will enjoy learning not just the vocabulary covered in levels 1 to 4, but also move on phrases and sentence construction in levels 5 and 6.
